The fraction wheel: 6 of 8 wedges lit for a burner that needs 3/4
First game sample · Book 1

Evidence Duel: The Relabeled Wheel

Kairo and Maya face Sludgeburn and Gritsnare at the Blackridge forge. Gritsnare swapped the 4-part fuel wheel for an 8-part one; light the right number of wedges to block the sludge. Three turns, a Mess meter instead of hit points, one sneaky Shortcut, and a Field Notebook at the end.

Equivalent fractions · built twice from the same rules so the two engines can be compared · needs a wide screen (turn phones sideways). This first sample still shows Sludgeburn's face from before the 30 September fix; Evidence Duels (all six battles) uses the fixed model.

Terra flying over the blocky Greenwild with a stream and trees
World test · Terra

Greenwild Open Map

A blocky voxel world: Terra explores the Greenwild, walks, runs, flies low, digs and builds, and finds four science sparks (soil layers, water clarity, plant ID and erosion).

Built to answer whether older school computers can run an open world. Keyboard and mouse, or touch.

The Evidence Duels select screen: six regions, from The Relabeled Wheel in the Caldera to The Silent Beacon finale
Game · Books 1 to 5 and the finale

Evidence Duels: all six battles

A duel-select screen and a battle for every villain pair: The Relabeled Wheel in the Caldera (equivalent fractions), The False Forecast at Skyreach (weather graphs), The Trash Tide at Coralhaven (food webs), The Vanishing Trick in the Greenwild (conserving matter), The Copied Alarm in Glitterdeep (tracing sources), and The Silent Beacon finale against Nullwyrm and the Dull King (choosing the right tool).

No timers · built in Godot and in Unity from one shared set of rules; each engine's status is below · needs a wide screen (turn phones sideways).

Progress

Where things stand, and the latest steps. As of 30 September 2026, midday.

Where things stand

  • Dragons

All 11 dragons are built in 3D and each has its own page, with the mouth and face fixes in place.

Riders are still 2D; they are not modelled yet.
  • Duel

Evidence Duels, all six battles (Books 1 to 5 and the Silent Beacon finale), is playable in Godot and in Unity; both builds passed an independent playtest review on 30 September. The first sample, The Relabeled Wheel (Book 1), stays playable in Godot and in Unity.

The Godot version downloads about 9 MB before its select screen and is ready in about 13 seconds on a simulated school Chromebook.
  • Open map

Terra's blocky Greenwild runs in Unity as a preview while its review runs.

three.js and Godot versions of the same world are being built; a save, load and menu screen has been requested.
  • Engines

three.js, Unity and Godot are being compared on the same scenes before one is chosen for the full game.

The measured numbers are in the game design document.

What's new

  • The games site. Everything made for the game so far is now in one public place, with the playable samples, all eleven dragon pages, the game design document, the engine tests and this timeline.

  • All six duels playable in Godot and Unity. A duel-select screen, the Book 1 fractions duel, four new duels for Books 2 to 5 (The False Forecast, The Trash Tide, The Vanishing Trick and The Copied Alarm) and the Silent Beacon finale against Nullwyrm and the Dull King, all built from one shared set of rules. Both builds passed their independent playtest reviews: Unity in the late morning, Godot at midday. Both use the dragons with the face fix. Play in Godot · Play in Unity

  • Open map preview (Unity). Terra explores the blocky Greenwild: walk, run, fly low, dig and build, and find four science sparks (soil layers, water clarity, plant ID and erosion). It was built to find out whether older school computers can run an open world. A same-morning fix lets the Space key lift Terra after the Fly button has been clicked. Explore the preview

  • Evidence Duel in Godot passed its review. After a loading-speed fix it is ready in about 17 seconds on a simulated school Chromebook, and it now asks phone players to turn the screen sideways. Play the Godot version

  • Face fix published. Sludgeburn lost the ghost 'eyes' on his cheeks, a second snout painted above his real mouth and an extra nostril. Small marks were cleaned up on Zephyra, Marina, Lumen and Nullwyrm. All eleven faces were checked. See the face check

  • Mouth fix on all eleven dragons. In the Roar you can now see inside the open mouth from the side; before, a wide wall of cheek skin hid it. Each dragon was rebuilt and reviewed on its own, and the last one went live that evening. Before and after
